Aloha! (Greetings) My name is Sophronia Noelani Josselin, I was web researching and came across your website, and found it very informative!

In 2003 I visited Ireland from Hawaii and tasted your common limpets known as Patella Vulgata which is found along the rocky coastline of Ireland.

I am contacting you because I wish to invest and establish a limpet fishery in Donegal and have limpets harvested with sustainability first and foremost in mind. I will need limpets Processed (blast freezed), packaged and shipped to Hawaii. Owing to the fact that Irelands limpet population have little or no commercial value it would seem that this is an opportunity to develop a small specialized fishery.

Currently, we are importing limpets on a very limited scale for product research, market development and testing. These limpets are harvested, packaged, and shipped frozen to Hawaii by an associate living there in Ireland.

Our market research shows that between 5000 to 7000 pounds per month, could be sold, if it was available. As a company preparing to expand, we find it imperative that a commercial source of supply be found. Basic HACCP and SSOP procedures for frozen seafood must be met and our associate can no longer meet these requirements.

I am hoping that I might have guidance from Donegal business forum to be able help guide in properly establishing this sustainable fishery in North West Ireland, making sure that all national and local laws as well as environmental concerns be met.
