Thousands expected to descend on Donegal Town this weekend.
Some traffic restrictions may be in place in Donegal Town on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of September due to Donegal International Beer Festival – avoid using town as route to another destination if possible.
From the people who brought you this years summer festival we are excited to be bringing more large crowds back to the Town. Starting Friday the 18th Donegal Town is hoisting the biggest Genuine Beer Festival in the North West. The Idea came from the largest beer festival in the world, Oktoberfest in Germany; the festival will hopefully grow in stature each year and become one of the main calendar events in Ireland.
Beers from Germany, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Czech Republic England and many more will make an appearance to taste and purchase over the weekend, some of which have never been seen or tasted in Ireland before.
So why not tickle your taste buds by sampling some of the beers and light refreshments which will be on offer over the whole weekend in the following establishment – The Abbey Hotel, the Central Hotel, the Reveller Bar, Mc Caffertys Bar, Mj`s Bar, Dom’s Pier 1, Reel Inn, Coach House, Bluestack Bar, National Bar, Castle Bar, The Harbour Restaurant and La Bella Donna. The town will be vibrant all weekend with live music in each establishment every night.
To create that festival buzz some of Ireland’s biggest bands are playing live FREE open-air concerts each evening on the Diamond.
Back by popular demand, a roaring success at this year’s summer festival, Big Generator one of Irelands most popular cover bands will take the stage at 8pm on Friday night. On Saturday night Donegal Town welcomes none other than the Hothouse Flowers (Rolling Stone magazine once dubbed them ‘the best unsigned band in Europe’) playing some of their biggest hits live, supported by local band Pavesi, Saturday night kicks off at 7pm and is sure to be a fantastic night.
Sunday evening the Logues will take to the stage. This young and very enthusiastic group are sure to rock the Diamond with their music.
Another great weekend of music and good craic is guaranteed, so clear your diaries for this weekend 18th, 19th and 20th of September! Hope to see you all there…
